I heard it’s always darkest
b’fore the dawn.
Searching for some light down on this road we’re on.
My mind is cloudy my heart might break.
I feel the pain with every single
breath I take.
Sometimes I’m found but then I’m lost.
There’s a price to pay but
can I bear the cost?
My memories are littered with regret.
My heart is blacker than a charcoal briquette.

If I stumble, if I fall
if I find my back stuck up against a wall.
Keep on keep on
Be strong be strong
Nothing else to do but carry on.

Don’t know what to say as I wander through this town.
My life’s a freak show cabaret
slowly shutting down.
Sun comes up it’s all so bleak.
Wonder how I’ll make it through another week.

When I falter, when I fail
when my bones all feel like
rusted metal rails.
Keep on keep on
Be strong be strong
God I miss you but I gotta carry on.

Heavy is the soul that’s
wracked with doubt.
Heavy is the cry to let it out.
Swear to God sometimes it’s all so heavy.

Bet on red, come up black
always bracing for another sneak attack.
I seen enough I ain’t surprised.
My dreams have all become metastasized.

Made it this far, make it farther still.
My body wants to quit but my spirit
never will.

Nothing left to do but suck it up
and carry on.

Heavy is the hand that won’t let go.
Heavy is the mind that needs to know.
Heavy is the heart awash with grief.
Heavy is the need for some relief.

Have a little hope. Have a little dope.
Pop another oxy just so I can cope.
This ain’t no party. This ain’t no game.
Every day is different but it’s all the same.
It’s just so heavy.
